[HE IS THE :BEN: EMOTE. IT'S HIM. HE'S SO DAMN TIRED ALL THE TIME.]
Mm, I try to keep that in mind... That it's easier for us to think clearly, because we're not the ones holding lives in our hands.
[There's a definite unsaid "but still" though because he's arrogant like Scien even though it's less obvious in him, most of the time. He returns the bump, before just leaning against Sidon.]
I know... That's what I care about the most, too. It would have been best to just let her end her life.
[ he gives him one of those lil one-armed hugs. their arrogant lil relivers. sidon is a prince—he's not allowed to be conceited, or it causes some serious problems. but he does understand. ]
Perhaps so.
[ he doesn't know if it would've been her choice if she'd killed herself. he's not sure how much of that was rosamund, like it'd been scien when he tore himself apart. evenly, ]
What I think is... that people were worried about what would have happened if they had no one to vote for, had she died. They hadn't known whether the other killer was acting in self defense or not.
[ and they didn't want to see what happens when an innocent person gets put on the chopping block. ]
Perhaps if they'd had more time... or confronted Bradley earlier. Maybe it would have ended more graciously.
[THEIR ARROGANT LIL RELIVERS!! He bonks his noggin into Sidon's side, letting it rest there as he leans and enjoys this one-armed hug.
He's quiet for a second, then, mostly because he's running through all of the ways that it could have ended more graciously if they'd just done this or that. Ultimately, he knows he'd be able to make the hard calls that a lot of people here can't seem to and that that's part of why it's so easy for him to judge... He would have supported Rosamund taking herself out and voting for Bradley just to ensure there wouldn't be any bigger threat running around, since it's a matter of numbers to him. He'd rather sacrifice Bradley than risk anyone else being killed by either of them.
Ultimately, though, he knows he'd just end up talking in circles, and that any amount of talking won't change what happened regardless.]
Maybe so. It's done either way, I guess... We'll just have to hope they do better the next time.
[ it really is just talking in circles. aimless regret. but he hopes that they can at least learn from this—or that things don't escalate any further. but he's no good at measuring people in numbers. he doesn't like thinking what'll happen if the kill count ticks up to three. ]
We will. [ he lets out a huff, like he's clearing out his feelings, then smiles. ] I think they'll do better. I have faith that tragedy will teach them to avert tragedy.
[ ... ] But I'm still a little mad! Can't be helped.
[im writing this tag like an hour and a half before trial ends so i hope something fucking wild happens and it's like "AND THEN THINGS DID ESCALATE FURTHER" let's see......... hm comes back hours later surprisingly tame.
This is so funny, though. Dahut just smiles in response!]
Good! [DON'T JUST SAY GOOD STAY MAD. But really:] Every emotion is an important one - even the ones you don't like to acknowledge, or the ones you don't think fit. So it's just as important to embrace each one as it comes and goes! Feelings are just as fleeting as life, after all; each should be treated preciously.
...But yes, I do hope that they'll avoid making bigger messes in the future.
