[ SIDON YOU ARE SO CUTE I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR YOOOOUUUUUU
dion is a little o_o at someone kissing him so brazenly but it's affection week so he allows it ]
Sidon. [ he puts a hand to his heart ] I ought to tell you to be more cautious with your words lest you end up breaking someone's heart, yet I cannot bring myself to dampen your light in the slightest.
I have never been accused of such... But I suppose it was common knowledge I had a lover already prior to my arriving here, so there was never any room for misunderstanding.
They are perhaps two sides of the same coin... Were we in Valisthea, I am sure crew members would have begun killing one another of their own volition, simply to reduce the risk that someone would kill them first.
So I wonder which is crueler.
[ lol anyway ]
... I am not sure. But I have little desire to dwell on my guilt any longer.
[ why is his world so... bad...... humans really not proving themselves to be very good. maybe they should try sleeping in communal pools together. ]
You really do come from a place of hardship. [ zora can be petty and emotional, but he's never had to deal with this level of sabotage. ] Whenever we're free of this place, you should come visit Hyrule—I think it would be a nice change of pace! You could rest there.
[ it's a genuine invitation, but also he gently leans to rest his head atop dion's hair. still affection week in this thread. it's like being leaned on by a very large dog, his face-fin twitching like a hound's ear. ]
...I'm glad for you, my friend. Guilt can be such a ruinous thing. I know it often comes hand in hand with responsibility, but it doesn't have to.
I haven't had much opportunity to leave! I do love my home, but it would be nice to see more of Hyrule... [ he has an adventuring spirit but not the right job for it. it's okay though, lanaryu is already big and beautiful. ] There are highlands to our north, which once had a Hylian stronghold. And then Death Mountain, where the Gorons thrive amidst precious stone and magma. There are wide, sprawling prairies to our west, deserts and mountains beyond that... Even if I should live another three hundred years, I doubt I will have time to experience it all!
[ he would die in the gerudo desert ]
But you wouldn't have the sort of obligations I have, so you could journey as you please!
Are you not really the type to do this normally? [ dion doesn't seem like a prude, but maybe he's not the casually cuddly type ] It's quite soothing, I think.
[ i should've kissed sidon when i had the chance ]
It would be considered highly inappropriate among Sanbreque nobility to be so casual with affection outside of one's family or lover. [ and even then ] So I suppose it is not in my nature... But I cannot deny your point. It is soothing.
I often feel the same way—it would be irresponsible of me to be so free with my affections back home. [ he is a very tactile, social person, but even he isn't usually this overt with it. ] But here it doesn't seem to do any harm.

Hah! I doubt that will be an issue.
[ he's just friendly. in canon perhaps this is true but there's not many scalies here so it's fine. ]
You seem quite capable of flustering the good people here. [ never forget party games ] Perhaps you're the heartbreaker here, my friend?

but ah yes, his past-tense lover. there is no delicate way to ask this, so he just does so in a kindly tone. ]
But are you... not together any longer?
no subject
... No. We parted ways shortly prior to my arrival here.
no subject
I'm sorry to hear that.
[ he'd clearly loved him, from their earlier conversation, even if sidon was WILDLY cursed at the time. ]
I hate that you must carry such a fresh loss with you here.

It is alright. I sent him away so that he would not have to bear witness to the trial that would take my life.
Which it seems still may be the case.

You've had quite the unkind fate, Dion.
[ it's clear enough even without getting into the weeds. ]
Though I hope you might be able to see this place a bit differently.

[ ruffles his fins ]
This place has proven to be a mercy... Despite the challenges.

You know, I thought this place was very cruel. And it is, but... you're not wrong.

After seeing it so many times, I should love the chance to actually visit. [ bursts into tears ] Is there a land you enjoy seeing outside your domain?

In that, you are right. Rather, I feel as though it is critical in lifting the spirits of those here.

So if ever you want someone to hold you, Dion, I will await you with an embrace at the ready.
