AHHHH ROSAMUND our cute voicetesting thread with these two forever ago could not have prepared me for the actual cr they would build help me
okay soooo obviously they have a lot of similarities between being royalty and also pet extroverts, they're both very sincere and have that sort of good-hearted kindness + pep that made them fast friends? and also both being fish out of water here from like, more ambiguously fantasy settings (both hilariously kind of post apocalyptic)? they got along from the get go and i think you could easily assume they are The Same? Two of Them?
but i do think ~BENEATH THE HIMBO/BIMBO VENEER~ (which is not a veneer it is real), they approach things differently. for one he has been alive much longer, and honestly the struggles of princess and prince are very different bc well uh HMMmm sexism, and she's been through a lot more fucked up shit than he has. so like!! obviously her brightness has sharper edges whereas he tended to be more even-keeled and that worked out for them; for him it was a lot of respecting her compassion and how it like, drove her to things like anger and defiance and a really deep sense of empathy, which he thinks are all actually quite difficult to handle and live with!!
he had a lot of concern that AS someone who is more empathetic and sensitive she might end up burning herself out if she didn't have an outlet, so he wanted to listen to her and be there when things like grief hit them all over the noggin. so a lot of their earlier conversations are kind of them just supporting each other through The Horrors and more or less offering exactly what they give to other people, just to each other. which was very sweet and they were good, very thoughtful friends, and he cared about her a ton. i think one thing is like, both knowing that optimism is very much a choice you have to make moreso than just being ignorant of horrors, so they were both very aware of how bleak the situation is but made the most of it together.
them getting tattoos was also when he started to think about things like... agency! the ability to decide things for yourself and how crucial that is! he truthfully did not come from a background where this was something he needed to think about, RICH POWERFUL MAN PRIVILEGE, but it was actually a hugely important thing to learn this game and she definitely was the one who first made him realize that.
that's also when he gave her a scale right before he died because it fell off when he tried to get a tattoo, did you know that for zora women that's a romantic gesture? anyway
THEN HE DIED!!! wowee. and she sent him the sweetest letter which made me so sad. in any case, he was very worried about her but they had a really heartwarming reunion in w4 vr that meant a lot to him, it was just surprisingly emotional and also like, on a related tangent, she is someone who would meet his unbridled love and enthusiasm with... unbridled love and enthusiasm!! they're both so unguarded with it and rightfully, not everyone is, but he did unconsciously appreciate having someone who would just reciprocate that energy with no questions asked. it's strange because they'd always been sincere, but it kind of tipped into a different level of openness and vulnerability here. overall though i actually think their relationship was more..... equalized?? after he died, which is unfortunate but very funny.
i've said this a few times, but he is kind of used to being Strong and Happy for the people around him, which is not something he minds at all or has to fake at all!!! but it was nice to be able to talk to someone who was sort of in the same position of pushing forward optimism and good cheer at all costs, and to tone it down and just have regular conversations about the things that they're not so confident about. which meant they would look deep into each others eyes and talk about their problems and all their confusion over things like, i am dealing with romance for the first time and making a huge mess of it, and maybe kiss each other on the cheek all the time and hold hands and be like wow i'm so glad we're normal friends doing normal friend things. they were so fucking cuddly all the time, everywhere.
anyway, feelings are hard, and after things with viktor, he was much more like, sensible and thoughtful. which meant it was harder to pick up on things like how he felt about rosamund; he got love potioned and it was confusing again because he was like, well..... this is not that different from how we are and how i feel already. it just kind of wiped away his hang-ups and threw caution to the wind for five minutes. i don't think he would've processed things quickly enough had she not confessed at endgame; he's not SHY, but he is made more timid by things like the threat of dying the next day, because at his core he does not actually want to put himself in the position of violently losing a person he loves again, whereas the imminent threat of death had emboldened her to say something. it's funny because they're both so protective but deeply different about it, he gets fussy and introspective, she gets fired up and emotional, and in general it's probably a good juxtaposition.
also nothing solid was going to come of it because he cares about todomatsu and felt way too bad to do anything anyway, but i think the way it worked out was nice actually? like they're both very loving and both had these rocky journeys of self discovery and it wasn't all good, and they're still not experts or dealing with it 'correctly,' but it means they're being gentle with themselves and each other. also like, he's genuinely more concerned about how this place has worn down her self confidence in her new life than romance. it really breaks his heart that she chose freedom and then got punished so hard for it immediately, but he is also of the mind that she can make the rest of her life mean more than two very hard months. sometimes..... suffering is just part of life.
but they are going to have so much fun to make up for how shit this place is, amen I LOVE YOU ROSAMUND please love yourself and thank you kabby for the absolute journey of this cr
THRONEEEE he loves throne!!! it's funny because they spent the majority of the game apart, but it was still such a meaningful bond for him :pleading:
i think, first off, they have very different countenances... laughs. but like even if throné is reserved, she never came across as cold to him? even from their first meeting, maybe because he brought up someone she cared about, but she had such an obvious warmth to her that he definitely saw and connected to right away. his best friend barely has any speaking lines so being a more quiet person is not.. a deterrent to him.....
but also emoshare definitely helped because while he is A FEELINGS GUY, he has his own way of coping with things and meeting her and seeing how she processed emotions (completely differently) and getting a chance to experience her Depression and Anxiety gave him a lot of empathy. which is funny, like for a minute he contracts mental illness and is like oh no this sucks actually!! but it helped him realize that for her, whatever she's lived through, it's made it this lifelong struggle to be happy, while also truly believing that she deserved much more.
so like, on one hand he is pretty okay with social grace and doesn't want to push too hard, but on the other he wants to support her! really bad!!! he tried to be pretty optimistic and open with her, and she was always respectful of that? it would be pretty easy to write off hoping for the best as something naive or silly especially when things are constantly going awry, but even when she disagreed with him it was just always kind of 'i'm genuinely happy you can think that way' rather than 'die you stupid fish,' and he wanted her to get to the point where she could risk hoping for the best as well.
but also we kept killing people she really cared about, oops. AND ALSO THEY BOTH GOT CYOA BEFORE HE DIED oops again. her checking in on him after that and after viktor died and asking if he was like, actually okay and not just faking it was very genuinely touching; even if he doesn't Fake happiness, it really spoke to her as a person to think to even ask. hilariously she was also one of the few people to get mipha lore outside of memshare, same vein there. like obviously she is guarded, yet she took the time to ask after hm and actually say aloud that she cared about him and that meant so much and he loves her a lot for it. genuinely it was one of the nicest things anyone on this ship has done for him? and likewise, when she went on cyoa, she was really going through such a terrible time and opening up about how she was starting to fear death/hated killing, and he felt SO BAD.. FOR HER..... but i think it really gave them a chance to have some real heart to hearts. all he really wanted was for her to feel supported and loved and to feel comfortable enough to give that a chance.
and then he died SORRY AHHH he was actually most worried about her and shoma because he was like oh these two are sad in a Bad Way and i made it worse. especially after the sora incident which he tried very hard to be compassionate about but was also like oh my god why throne, the person who is trying so hard to escape a murderous past. but meeting her again w4 and being able to give her a hug and some reassurance and seeing that she was soldiering on and making connections still was very uplifting for him. it was kind of like getting to see her at milestones on her journey and seeing how she was growing, and it meant a lot. by this point he was also like, i am going to give throne a hug every time i see her!!!!! he did his best with her-mes and letters but it's not the same as physical reassurance.
and then he was obnoxious about hanging out with her from then once he got revived, and it was like, really uplifting to see her open generosity and know she was growing into freedom and warmth and happiness. even just talking during endgame about trying to help the people of lotophagos cemented that throne has such a good heart that has been hurt by things like.. not getting unconditional love and being used by the people around her. kills her dad, literally. HE'S FROM A HAPPY HOME SO HE'S LIKE :tails: at her upbringing and has been since she first told him. but yeah he is so happy for her even if she has an entire new journey ahead still, and will be texting all the time and obnoxiously asking her to visit him. sorry. also i didn't know where to put this but i thought it was so funny whenever she wanted to kill him for being an annoying dog to her murderous cat vibes
EUNHYUK.. hyung...... no they're about the same age
do you think about how wildly different this cr is from how it started. how did this happen. anyway they started out politely and had bathroom curfew, but i think the first real instance of them having to like, seriously talk is after the HEART FIASCO.. I WILL NEVER RECOVER FROM THIS!!!!!! they definitely did not approach the task from the same angle, but he also appreciated that eunhyuk let him talk to viktor first? like he could've just done his sneaky little bullshit, and oocly i figure that eunhyuk was ready to do his sneaky little bullshit if necessary, but it was nice that he didn't have to, actually. right out the gate it was clear that eunhyuk is someone who takes on a lot of responsibility, so it meant something that he was willing to drop the reins for a second and give him a chance to just talk to viktor first. and also eunhyuk wasn't an asshole at all about viktor's circumstances either, so in general sidon had a lot of respect for how he handled things.
it's so funny that this FUCKING SIDEPLOT was happening while MURDER DMs and PLANET STUFF were going on, but like in the process and just from hanging out more he saw that eunhyuk was actually tender at heart.. he had such a warm and cute smile early on i was like YAYWON PUSHING THESE SOCIOPATH VIBES!! NO ONE BELIEVES THIS!!!!! week 1 made me want to die. but yeah he very quickly became fond of eunhyuk and then deeply sad about what happened? because eunhyuk was someone who cared so much and pushed himself very hard about the survival of those around him, and viktor was someone who wanted to live very much, so the two of them dying the way they did was just so.. sad. especially because they did resolve things peacefully with the heart earlier, it was so unfair.
but anyway sidon died shortly after lol, and they got to catch up and it was nice ): HE LOVES EUNHYUK.. eunhyuk was awkward about it but him saying he wanting to be friends too was truly so heartwarming to a guy who'd just died and left a bunch of friends behind. and hearing that he'd chosen to die was the worst, i think this is part of why he would later sympathize with eunyoo because if his sister had done this he would've been so upset. but anyway, eunhyuk was like.. so nice about being there to quietly support him and like a bunch of others during trial or body reacts or anything else, like he was so consistently There for them and just. such a good friend. even if he was '_' about it. tears up, i love you eunhyuk.
but yeah sidon mostly wanted to like.. help take some responsibility here and again so he would have some opportunity to do... other things? to lighten up a little? TO CHOOSE LIFE INSTEAD? in general it was just a lot of being silly and trying to keep their spirits afloat with stupid parties and whatnot. but he was very worried after eunhyuk and memshare really made it funnier, realizing that he had a baby sister.
it contextualized a lot of things, because mipha also took on so much responsibility to keep everyone safe that it ultimately killed her. and obviously sidon is going to relate to eunyoo a little more, even if he isn't as cool as she is? to be honest sidon was projecting a little, thinking about what he would tell mipha if he had the opportunity, but mostly he wanted eunhyuk to be able to relate to how eunyoo might be feeling and to encourage him to communicate with her when he got back home. basically he is sure also that eunyoo loves his STUPID ASS and his heart really breaks for all they've been through.
cyoas gave them a chance at self reflection and also to freak out over him dying. everyone getting old yellered. before that, eunhyuk was someone who fussed over him a bit, which caught him off guard a little..... it's very sweet and he didn't know how to react at first, but it did mean a lot; while i think they all sustained more trauma than can be dealt with in 8 weeks, these cyoas were brutal, it definitely helped to talk through it and get eunhyuk's perspective instead of just beating himself up for another two weeks. and when they did revive, he was SO HAPPY THAT EUNHYUK TALKED TO DAHUT.... just making the choice to live meant so much to sidon and while he hated this experience with a passion he is also just glad that something about the journey could be worthwhile and change eunhyuk's life for the better.
he is going to be annoying about checking in and seeing how he and eunyoo are doing? he wants to meet her so bad even though that would mean visiting hyrule or eudora? the way he can't visit half these worlds because he's fucking monster-shaped. anyway he loves eunhyuk a lot and hopes he's happy FOREVER
i think first off is the age thing. hilariously because you are all tiny and sidon has no understanding of how humans work anyway, he didn't really think of shoma as like a tiny baby or anything to begin with -- he DID think he was young, but by zora standards, someone who looks shoma's age could easily be like 50+ years old. there are some baby zora who are like, fully articulate teens but look like babies because they don't haven't hit their growth spurt. awkward adolescence, etc.
with that context... he was instantly like oh this guy knows more about what's going on than i do, lol. like shoma was clearly more in his element and knew more about technology, etc. and for sidon, he tends to see what people are good at and tries to praise and encourage it as much as possible, so he wanted to connect to shoma and encourage his interests!! and like shoma AND ROBOJI helped him out very early, which was very sweet and cemented him as The Best Duo Ever in sidon's mind.
so he relied on him quite a lot tbh! and maybe for some people that's just added pressure, but mostly he wanted shoma to like.. feel useful? especially after viktor died and w1 cyoa, he was just very worried about shoma's safety because he is SUCH A MISERABLE LITTLE MAN and he was like oh this one could probably stand to feel..... needed by others. because the will to live and not give up is something so important? accidentally traumatizes shoma with a story about his own dad
but yeah like shoma was an early favorite of his just because he was so cute without meaning to be, passionate about what he likes, and intelligent in a way that sidon is not. he genuinely admires shoma a lot!! they had like, meaningful conversations and such but also ran around as kids on an ice floe, so he really thought of him as a friend. but also a friend he needs to support because he has fucking level 100 depression.
when shoma told him about how genuinely miserable and afraid of life he was, especially because everyone with solutions kept dying, it was really heartbreaking. the aging thing again he wasn't weirded out by, but he does understand that aging at a different speed than people around you is a problem, since that's him with all the humans here. but sidon isn't also stuck looking like a child, so that's extra awful? obviously he died IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS CONVERSATION.. SORRY.... but mostly he wanted to encourage shoma to keep trying because he has also been in a situation where he was unfathomably depressed and it does eventually get more fathomable, if you don't reject love and support.. which he thought the eudora crew was capable of giving him. the idea that shoma would eventually be afraid to be happy just scared him a lot.
and again HE DIED but they had a very cute reunion w4, and genuinely shoma seemed be handling his grief better and a lot of w4 threads with his living cr was just sidon trying to vibe check if they were Doing Okay, and he was very grateful to see shoma working hard -- because that meant he hadn't given up yet, cries. MY SON!!!! and then when they reunited for real w6, shoma seemed genuinely excited for what he'd managed to accomplish and that just made sidon feel so much pride and he loves this little bean so much.
the sister lore at the end definitely like.. contextualized a lot, too. mostly because he'd kind of seen shoma in a place he'd been 100 years ago after his sister died, and finally recognized what it was, except shoma had the added struggle of everything else going on his life. so he feels a lot of sympathy for him and understands why he'd want to help his sister, and truly hopes for the best for them both. also he's also like.. glad that this place with its wish and MONEY would maybe help him deal with the problems he's facing. he's obviously going to invite shoma and his sister over to hyrule sometime?? and check in and clap for all the obvious awards he's going to win and cry when he graduates from college. THE POINT IS HE'S SOOOO PROUD OF SHOMA he loves him a lot and wants all the best for him forever the end
ARTHUR YOU ARE THE FUNNIEST MAN ON THE SHIP he thinks arthur is such a riot by accident
he met arthur and arthur was immediately this guy. the way i looked at their early pcs and arthur was just like, we're not friends. he's so silly. anyway, they are basically opposites but he simply assumed that arthur was a tsundere immediately? sidon always assumes the best of folks and he was right to think this because arthur just turned out to be a cute nerd, and he felt justified in harassing him more when he actually started to give him the time of day and tell him stories and stuff.
in general he felt like arthur was a grumpy cat but also possibly just incredibly awkward and unable or unwilling to show he cared, while still actually caring. he would do things like ask if he was okay and help people during mini events when they were being attacked by monsters, and other such things that were OBVIOUS SIGNS of being a DECENT PERSON, idiot.
but also to be honest, he took the approach of trying to be obnoxiously in his space to try to get him to risk opening up a little. because it did feel like he tried to be aloof and take care of his own business, but 1) this place is so hellish how could he handle it by himself, 2) he seemed like someone who actually could use a friend, because of and despite actively pushing everyone away. so like, even if it wasn't sidon specifically, he was hoping he'd open up more and maybe accept that other people would worry after him and That's Okay. you can't control how other people feel, and sometimes their feelings are that they like you.
but then he died :')!! the letter arthur sent him honestly did give him a morale boost, like oh, arthur is going to be okay. and w4's reunion cemented that, he was so glad that arthur was making friends.. finding love..... even if he only admitted these things because he got truth cursed so hard, help me. but honestly hearing arthur's TRUE FEELINGS made him very happy, and basically cemented everything he'd already thought of him. and when he got back, arthur was ready to patch up his stupid tail and also like.. feeling guilty over something that sidon would literally never have thought to blame him for, and between that and his memory, it was very clear that this is just a man who takes on so much responsibility and then blames himself for everything that doesn't go right and carries that guilt everywhere.
and it's really sad but also something he knows will take more than eight weeks to recover through, and that he may never be cuddly and friendly or such. but he likes arthur for who he is, thinks he's transparently kind despite efforts otherwise, and has the support network to be happy if he allows himself to be!! he will call arthur up to make sure he's practicing some self care and then call throne if he ignores him. i love your arthur you are so funny and deserve the world
do you think about how sidon has no real idea of what a freak owner is? the most unnerving thing he did was kiss his feet weirdly on a dare? i think about this a lot
but no for some background, the monsters in zelda are like uncommunicative aggro assholes, some are smart but it's more like an animal intelligence. but there's also a bunch of different species obviously, looks at the zora. so for him meeting someone who was not human, and unabashedly said so, was kind of a relief!! he understands why, but a couple people thought sidon was a monster/were alarmed/wanted to attack him out the gate, so even if that didn't ~hurt his feelings~, it was still nice to skip over that part completely and jump to a mutual understanding.
so he felt a very immediate connection with owner, and was open about that; 'demon' doesn't have a good connotation where he's from either but it was very much like, well, this is a totally different world and it's best to keep an open mind!!! like this is a person who is a totally different species from him, so he was prepared for some huge disparities in perspective, culture, etc. sidon is exhausted by racist boomer fish in canon.
however, owner never did anything to be Very Different in his eyes? they spent a lot of time just hanging out and holding hands, and sidon is SUCH an extrovert and owner is a sociable creature so they really bounced off each other well? owner is also someone who is polite but would put him in his place if he did anything stupid, which is good. and like with the missing arm, it's not like owner hid it from him as long as he asked? so overall they vibed a lot and he really would've been fine just chatting about nothing forever, manifesting good things and holding hands and buying matching friendship sunglasses.
but he was also of the mind that like, owner wasn't telling him everything. not maliciously, just that he was not really a Feelings Blabby person, which was okay!! but as someone who might live to be 400+ he has seen and experienced the woes of a longer lifespan and kind of worried about owner in terms of what he might not be sharing.
AND THEN SIDON DIED, BYE!!!!!! he was actually not that worried about leaving owner behind unfortunately, he was just like owner's tough and will be okay. though like him bringing his sunglasses to trial was very sweet... i don't know owner's true heart but in general sidon was touched that he really did think of him as a friend. and then the w4 reunion was nice and he was really happy to see him again!! HIS PAL!!!! oh yeah i'll go on the lucktordon tangent here, he was not annoyed by love arrows, it did kinda sting in the end but that wasn't really owner's fault so much as sidon's actions afterward that caused problems. and they had a nice talk about it.
sidon: love has so many moving parts and is hard to understand owner, kindly: yeah it is incomprehensible and inescapable forever and then you die sidon: oh okay!
plus he is pretty hard to upset, so he was mostly like... i think you actually should apologize to viktor instead. the actual worst part was that he fell in love with viktor the week he died, because trauma, but that was also not owner's fault. but then there was CYOA, bleak. he violently murdered owner and felt awful about it, and then owner died for real. in the cyoa though he only got to see owner's dream for a second in like, fucked up bits and pieces in aeor, but it really stayed with him? so when he died irl, people were comforting sidon but his response was actually was more like.. i wonder if owner will be disappointed when he shows up here.
(i'll give u his letter since you never got it also: I wish I had more room with which to apologize properly. I'm sorry, my dear friend. I know it was a dream, yet the harm I caused you was real. I would beg not your forgiveness, but only your peace and continued happiness. Please let Guy know the same. I should've held your hand through your pain.)
cw: suicide-ish nothing graphic just talk of death anyway that's why he wanted to talk to owner when he showed up and asked him about his dream!! to make sure he wasn't misunderstanding it. and like, knowing that owner was exhausted of his existence did make him very sad, and he did selfishly want to keep his bond with owner even if maybe the nicer thing to do would be to offer to find a way to permakill him. sidon is someone who is unconsciously very afraid of losing people so he wouldn't be able to think that way, but he also wants owner to be happy, so he's just going to try and live a long time and be his friend for 300 years and hope that's vaguely entertaining for him to make up for inevitable goodbyes. he does still hope he outlives owner somehow and that he finds peace.
w7 memshare was funny because he was like, wow owner you really do have to deal with love a lot, but also it was like the one time he saw that owner is kind of a LIL JERK to some people. which was interesting, but he didn't read into it too bad. like in general he thinks owner is genuinely trying to help the people in his inn so he wouldn't say things to actively sabotage that, even if he's being a provocateur... again he has no clue about owner's freak side. and with endgame, it was like, well of course owner has regrets he's 9230480923 years old, and he will probably ask about them whenever i feel like i can do my tags again. i don't know how to describe their cr besides that they are besties and he just treats owner like any other guy even if he can grow 40000 limbs.
but yeah sorry he is going to be so annoying and text him like LOOK AT THIS CRAB!!! (SHITTY PICTURE OF A CRAB) WHAT A GREAT CRAB and try to visit his inn!! i have no idea how sidon would deal with knowing he's killed a bajillion people. probably tell him that if he did that in front of him he'd have to try and kill him, and that sucks. let's go to the beach instead? he thinks as long as owner has enrichment it's probably fine, he has no reason to believe he'd do a mass murder at this point.
chuus owner on the forehead they were so inexplicably cute and i'll never be over it
okay so i think they obviously have the funny gag of loud guy quiet guy going for them, though in his mind diluc is more ridiculous than he appears on the tin... he thinks diluc is honestly so funny despite the stoicism.
their early conversations were very pleasant and they started on their silly compendium together even though there were 9284382 more animals and plants than they could possibly get pictures of? it was just a silly project and he was grateful that diluc wasn't someone who was like, too cool for that. that really was the week i died, damn?? but yeah his early impressions of diluc were that he was very dependable and just an upright guy, a Chill Dude who was part of the legendary bathroom curfew. obviously he had feelings, w1 made sure everyone knew that, but he generally felt like diluc was someone who could stand on his own without much help.
but i do think death kind of changed their dynamic in a fun way!! because their reunion was obviously INCREDIBLY FUNNY..... i'm sorry he thinks diluc is handsome even without hair 🥺 and then he continued to make baldluc jokes by accident all game......... and diluc continued to forgive him instantly 🥺 all of you let him get away with anything all of the time
okay back to the real meat of things, again i think death was a good shift -- he got the sense that diluc was being more open in general once trial was over? sidon can be pushy when he's up against someone VERY reserved, but he's not really the type to force someone out of their shell so much as invite and encourage them to do so, so he was happy that diluc was more willing to share his burdens and be like, not so weighed down by whatever baggage made him so independent. which isn't necessarily a bad thing!! it's good to be self-sufficient so long as it's not self-isolating. but it's also like, at some point it's stubborn and maybe a little selfish, so he was grateful to hear that diluc felt a little freer. dying and not having to be afraid of death is a little liberating in its own way.
but yeah beyond that, they just got along!! they do share a lot of core values i think, which is why they got annoyed and angry at the same things, even if diluc is more intense about it lmao. ALSO HE IS ONE OF SHOUXUE'S FAVORITES so obviously he is good people, from sidon's perspective. but yeah they could goof around at parties and diluc made him a drink, and in general while diluc is kind of quiet and private, sidon did not find him like... Mysterious or difficult to read at all. he's a guy who came off as productive and forthright and knightly in that he was indignant about Wrongness, but without the decorum of a proper 'knight.' which is fine, link is also literally that.
and obviously he loves link, and he wuvs diluc too, he found his memories and cyoa experience so sad and couldn't really do much more than gently exist around him and offer support in a way he could, without coddling him because he Gets that it's can make you feel weak and weird. two comforts trying to navigate around hurt. but to him, they struck a good balance... HE LIKED DILUC A LOT!!!!!! that's his lil egg guy. they are a comedy routine.
invites him to hyrule (teyvat 2) so they can beat the shit out of each other for fun yay!!!
i think he and margaret hit a couple of the same notes of just being socially competent and decent with people and not deep in the weeds of a tragic backstory and stuff. in general, she felt very reliable and steady out of the gate; she understood the game premise, business, and didn't seem shocked at a giant fish dude, so he admired her a lot for how collected she was overall? like, i can immediately trust her judgment calls on what is happening and i feel confident making this decision after five minutes of knowing each other.
but margaret is actually a safe choice for that? to him, she strikes a good balance of like, actually caring about people (the way w0 doxxed people having Real Human Feelings immediately) and having compassion while also being a competent person with practical skills; he has a harder time connecting to people who don't have that human ('human') side to them, but even without knowing her background and stuff he's liked her from the start. also obviously he is not a businessman so he is like WOW margaret you are so good at spreadsheets! (does not know what those are)
at this point in tl;cr i usually have to talk about the distance between the living and dead but actually we really only had a week apart oops. but i think death also opened up some extra cr breathing room, like there was a sort of shared frustration and helplessness during trial and exec where they all had the answers and could do nothing with them? and her opinions on how things were going, a sort of balance of agitation when it was necessary and not being super duper hard on the living was something he respected.
THE BIG THING THOUGH WAS CYOA, what a terrible time. simultaneously being besties and then instantly being paranoid and suspicious of each others' guts was so unpleasant. and he wasn't even there when margaret died!! maybe that actually made it easier to talk about with each other, since they weren't directly involved in their respective pvp portions. but yeah afterwards it was really nice to talk to her while they were both sane and chat about their like, uncorrupted dreams; he's royalty and ambitious in the scope of what he wants, and obviously he does not truly know the horrors of capitalism, but the crux of their dreams comes a similar sort of hope and he genuinely respects/loves what she's trying to accomplish and the heart behind it.
he's not a spiteful person, but being friends with margaret after cyoa did feel like a huge fuck you to what happened to them. in a good way! they got to burn books and gossip and it just felt like a very natural friendship. even getting her memory about what a disaster her love life is and how her taste is bad just felt like a very.. idk how to describe it. less about swapping trauma and more just venting about things and being like yes girl you deserve better girl (get couples therapy). you know your gay friend you flop onto on a couch together with and talk about your days together.
in general, he respects margaret a lot and he is going to give her his entire stipend so he doesn't destroy hyrule's economy. she's a top pick for if he were to go on an adventure? he loves u so much margaret i cry
jan we were truly torn by the veil of death but i appreciate charles so much. i'm sorry that many of us abandoned you, you must be so buff from carrying the plot for 8 weeks
anyway, i feel like he and charles have a number of similarities ESPECIALLY SINCE CHARLES IS ALSO ROYALTY, OKAY CHARLES. like they're both very affable and function without very much shame or overt angst, sometimes you are the emotionally stable one of your friend group (of 40 people). it felt very...... equal? he very quickly realized he didn't need to worry that charles would forget to eat or sleep or fall into a giant quagmire of depression, all three of which were legitimate concerns he had multiple times for multiple people this game.
however, charles is just generally more of a badass than he is, i think? like they're both fighty dudes and pretty bold, and he thinks charles has a good heart, but in general charles seems like he's better at making hard decisions, as sidon is secretly PRETTY BAD AT THIS at his canonpoint, so i think they still read pretty differently... also i guess sidon is pretty open whereas charles had an entire secret identity. that said, i don't think he ever pressed charles for anything ever and knows absolutely nothing about his backstory and whatnot. hilarious. the way i haven't even read your lore plurk because i'd like to play these games someday
ALSO THE FUCKING HATS WHY DIDNT YOU GUYS SEND THEM!!!! I WANTED MY HATS!!!! in general one of the big things was that the whole gy really respected charles because he was smart enough to send them things and also sent letters that all of them could read that were obviously putting in a lot of effort to help everyone? and he thought it was sweet when the living sent random questions about squirrels or whatever, even though someone did an identity theft on him for a second there, HEI
but yeah he thought charles was a very good sport and that's why he just constantly doxxed whatever he was doing to him, and generally found him very fun and on a similar wavelength to him -- just two guys who pretend to be some really weird family with eunhyuk and kill a guy on lotophagos within a day of landing there, and also get shot at by arrows. charles strikes him as different from say, ichiban, in that he is clearly a fun moodmaker type but is also kind of a little scamp about it. their mutual hobby of making arthur regret his existence. he's just very fun to bounce off of.
anyway he respects that charles is too busy to deal with any of them and has an entire life and marriage and his own thing to do besides dwell on 2 months of murder game, good for him. they should hang out sometime though, i think they'd be good penpals and we would continue our letter cr trend
wagh shouxue THAT'S HIS.. murderer daughter sister friend. oh boy
obviously she was NOT in the camp of people who instantly accepted him and his dumbass giant fish existence right away, which was funny. she is a little prickly and a teenage and ordinarily he would just take this as a friendship challenge and be annoying until she caved, though i have no idea if that would've worked tbh.
but he basically memorized everyone's profiles (even if obviously oocly i have memloss and cannot do this), and when people started dying, she was practically the first person he wanted to talk to. she actually got his sister lore very early compared to most people, it's something he's not in a huge rush to talk about because even if he's moved on to some degree, he is more affected by it than he likes to put forward + he's the one at home who has to keep his dad and others from talking about mipha every 3 seconds. but it was relevant!! and just seeing how much she genuinely respected the dead and how seriously she took her job moved him. sometimes your sister is trapped in a robot for 100 years and then you end up on a ship that starts to do basically the same thing.
so that was a very genuine bonding experience, and they had some mutual friends like owner, and then she killed him. this was such a funny murder to plan AND I GOT TO DIE thank you sweet ara. him trying not to get too far ahead of her because he was worried what she might do and just running around like a pair of idiots. mostly, he felt bad for... dying. like obviously she was crazy and they didn't know for sure what might cure that, but he felt like if she did become lucid again she would feel crazy bad about killing anyone, considering what her deal is. and honestly, during trial he was incredibly torn between wanting her caught because that's probably what she'd want, and being upset that two young women were going to get mcmurdered for something they didn't want to do. seeing his own words used against her during execution as like, a final blow was SOOO HEARTBREAKING I HATE YOU
after that though the most he really felt he could do was greet her kindly and forgive her when she got to the helly belly. like he simultaneously felt it was his responsibility to help her past The Murder while truly not having an answer on how to do so, tears in eyes emoji. and learning about her mom and knowing how so much of her life was trying to redeem herself for something that WASN'T HER FAULT..... AND THEN DIED AGAIN ON CYOA!!!!!!! at the very least i think his own cyoa helped.. even things out. but she was his water bottle forever. even if she was hilariously tsun all of the time and revoked his thumbs up and gave him grief during party games.
but yeah he really did feel she was a salvation for a lot of people here.. himself included!! because by the end it became clear they couldn't SAVE everyone who'd been hurt by eldritch abomination-chan, which was incredibly depressing, she still worked herself basically to the bone trying everything that she could and humoring him when he wanted to send off everyone they'd collected. and i think had he not gotten that closure, endgame would've been much harder? so he respects her very deeply and i think ultimately she helped him more than he'd helped her tbh.
idk what your endgame plans are actually but he'd definitely try to keep in touch and invite her to eudora reunions or whatever insane groupchat they all have. smooches her on the noggin, he care her very much
HIS LIL GREEN BEAN CABBAGE MANS!! MA PETIT BROCCOLINI!!! their cacio e pepe......
dahut is so interesting because he is a lil stemlord, but he still has real charm? do you know how rare that is irl? anyway while obviously sidon is not a studied academic type, he really respects dahut's big silly brain and how the virches basically got started on investigating their situation and the ship immediately? it's the kind of admiration you get for someone who is so much better at something than you are. zelda tech is very advanced but no one understands it because it's 159039402 years old, so it was very O: to meet people who are essentially biomedical engineers.
but you also gave half of us bizarre heart lore w0 and then died because you're a hateful little creature! i think about how much disaster your heart subplot caused for an item that fucking disappeared with you. he felt very bad for his heart vanishing even if he was mostly motivated by honor things with scien. anyway, he was very concerned about dahut's 'medical condition' to begin with, so him dying was rough for everyone!! thanks for that
i don't feel like we were separated for very long though, and while sidon liked the graveyard, all of you by w2 were weird shady stems and at LEAST among them, dahut is an extrovert. and in general dahut was someone whose company he enjoyed? whether it was just looking for cookies in this hellish rathole or harassing him during our 100 parties, it was a good time!! dahut was also like, thoughtful and somehow supporting 1083402 people at once, it's hard not to appreciate his infinite youthful energy and how he turns it into like, a caretaker role.
but memshare was fun because they do have something of a shared background in being motivated by DEAD RELATIVES and what that sort of loss entails. he has no idea how actually bringing someone back to life would work but he's happy that dahut will get to see his mom again probably i'm sure that goes well. he would make the exact same choice if he could, so he gets it. though memshare 2 was also fascinating in that sidon's approach to his relationships is much more straightforward and he is not the kind of person who could function like dahut does? he definitely thinks he and scien are kind of freaks (affectionate). it was just very illuminating in that, oh we have our similarities but we will never function on the same wavelength probably. that's okay. it was helpful because dahut's faith in scien is something that spoke to scien's character (which was hard for him to understand on his own), but also like... it's easier to believe in someone who likewise has such a meaningful bond with someone else!!
but overall he really respected dahut's approach to emotions, in a way that resonated with him on a personal level better than scien's general mindset was. and it's hard not to compare them, even if he doesn't dislike scien. he's a very emotional person and someone who prefers to connect on an empathetic level with people so the way that dahut didn't necessarily apologize for what people do or forgive everyone for causing problems due to emotional outbursts, while also respecting Feelings, both negative and positive, was something he resonated with. partly because he has also been alive a while so DESPITE BEING YOUNG, like ugly/selfish outbursts feel a little juvenile to him? quietly judges some trial stuff together.
but yeah he thinks dahut is so amazing and cool and maybe the third cutest here after a corgi and owner, but it's a close race...... he's going to text dahut for advice and sanity checks from time to time, while also seeing if he get a confession croissant from any poor soul who crushes on him.
sidon is a friendly dogfishman who is the baby of his family and generally emotionally stable if nothing else, lucien is a wet cat saddled with elder sibling responsibilities and arcane-induced brain damage, so sufficed to say...... they are different
early on he was mostly just concerned about lucien? like this was a man who did not seem to be getting much rest or peace of mind in what was already a very stressful situation? cyoa definitely didn't help that, but he also didn't have a bad impression of lucien, he just thought he could talk to ghosts somehow and maybe needed some guided meditation. like he could be abrasive but he was also surprisingly open about his fucked up family situation, which was illuminating even if he worried about lucien's ability to very confidently make disastrous personal decisions. he felt for him and his sister a lot, had to reflect a little about his own relationship with mipha, and mostly hoped lucien could let his guard down a little and open himself up to kindness.
and then he died! their seance session kind of convinced him that lucien was generally doing his best, just in the most concerning way possible. this was also where lucien had him pass a message about himself to viktor??? THE GALL, it was very funny both icly and oocly, and part of why he told lucien he liked viktor, because he got the impression that lucien viewed him as like.. a threat? sidon is poly so regrettably none of this mattered to him. but also while unfortunately he was not love arrowed and had very genuine feelings, he'd also supported lucktor for a while at this point bc he was viktor's friend, and it felt like a dick move to pursue viktor behind lucien's back since he seemed to obviously have feelings too.
anyway that went really well but honestly it was mostly his fault so he was just glad it ended peaceably... AND THEN IT WAS LUCIEN CYOA HELP, this was a fascinating peek into his brain pan. even if it wasn't an exact blueprint of lucien's memories, it did really contextualize his behavior, because who could be okay when they're being SO fucked with? he came out of it with a lot of sympathy for his situation EXCEPT FOR THE PART WHERE HE MURDERED HIM.. I GUESS. sidon didn't really talk about it, because it was likely an illusion and lucien probably wasn't there? but it was a little like -- not even a personal thing, it's just killing a guy so you can rob him is not exactly a good look on top of things like stealing a 15yo's heart. this is why when he had to shittalk one person for fun it was lucien.
but mostly he wanted to talk through it; getting to chat when he revived and seeing that lucien seemed surprised/upset about murder was a nice moment, and he got a much stronger sense of how lucien was trying to become a better version of himself. and in general, since they were spying through the guinea pig stuff, he could see him making an effort to bring them all back even as he was getting bit by naked pigs, etc. and there were other moments of real decency, like giving him the clover or even molly's sketches.... sidon genuinely wouldn't mind having him drop into hyrule and getting to know each other better.
all in all, he thinks lucien is a tsundere piece of shit! but also that he is a tremendously damaged person with some dick moments. honestly he was kind of a test of sidon's compassion vs his very strong sense of right and wrong, but it was a good lesson in understanding how much someone's circumstances can affect who they end up to be, considering sidon has never had to worry about terrible parents and poverty, etc. you have to give people a chance to be good and believe in them, so he wants to be nice. also he mostly believes that viktor will be a good moral compass for him. don't pick up any more weird books though.
MR DA VIKKY........... anna wrote a gay note so i will also say i'm glad we got good cr this game that helped us get over our shys and talk to each other..... no one believes me when i say i'm shy but WE'RE TWINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway viktor was nice to him right away and offered to help him IN THE MOST CURSED WAY POSSIBLE BECAUSE YOU ARE A NIGHTMARE, ANNA, but unfortunately sidon really liked him from the jump. obviously he didn't know much about Space and deeply values altruism, so someone who looked past the shark thing and helped him with tech really hit a chord with him early... it also doesn't help that viktor is actually a little gremlin man who scampered about zora's domain immediately, which is unfortunately endearing to him. lil guys who skitter about are very friend-shaped.
but so much happened immediately with dahut + scien dying, scien cashed in a favor to have him and eunhyuk try and stop viktor from using his heart tech. and i think actually this very early on highlighted their differences, sidon is able-bodied, long-lived, and grew up with love, power, wealth, and opportunity, and viktor had.. NONE OF THAT...... sidon tried to be as nice about the whole thing as possible compared to how it could've gone, but the serious scientific ethics convo was something i think that'd still come up a few times from then on, and it put a lot of viktor's struggles into perspective for him and made him grow up a little.
AND THEN LOVE ARROWS CAME AND THREW THAT ALL OUT THE WINDOW!!!!! sidon is honestly usually nerfed by baggage, see rosamund, but getting it CURSED AWAY meant he got to just sit there like (: wow this is really nice and fun actually and i like viktor a lot so that's fine! (gets hit in the trauma when viktor dies immediately after) hmmm less fine!
he's good at not letting his angst spill everywhere so it wasn't a problem, but it did really affect how he interacted with viktor when they reunited later -- he got attached extra fast and was probably overprotective? punching scien was like, his One Actual Violence this game. but he could also tell this was someone who had just the worst opinion of himself and didn't know how to accept love/didn't think he deserved it, which was REALLY SAD TO HIM since he thinks viktor is great, obviously.
so after memshare he thought it was important to tell viktor he loved him, so it was clear it wasn't just the curse and that he did care about him a lot. viktor was so stubbornly sad that he really tried to be equally stubborn about being openly affectionate and appreciative of him. memshare did put the fear of god into him though, in that like.. on one hand, he respected how seriously viktor took his mistake, if he didn't feel bad about sky it would've changed their cr forever, but he was also afraid of what would happen if he got desperate and did something like that again. so part of trying to encourage him was to help build his self esteem and recognize he has other options so he wouldn't get stuck in a position like that again? this is why he has a hexcore anti tshirt.
they had a cute week and then viktor fucking DIED AGAIN, nightmarish. this was after he got ARRESTED BY LUKE TOO? it was just every time he looked away, my god. obviously he was really upset because it just kind of rubbed salt in the 'you aren't strong enough to help your loved ones' wound, but they got good talks out of their cyoas... and then i got the rejection i'd been harassing anna about since w1 hehehoho BUT NO IT WAS GOOD like he was a little sad, but part of it was more, oh i didn't manage to convince viktor that he was worth this. that was probably the worst part? it stung for an entire minute in like a MORE HIGH SCHOOL CRUSH WAY but he wouldn't dwell on it and also sidon gets wrapped up in stuff and doesn't think more than 5 minutes ahead, so this was a good way to force him to slow down and be more thoughtful about these things.
staying besties made the rest of the game less dramatic, and kind of equalized things too -- viktor started calling him out when he was being a hypocrite and was doing better in the confidence department overall? by the time viktor got revived, he was just a very good confidante and didn't seem as shy around him, he definitely got the most cyoa lore and KIND OF UNEXPECTEDLY BULLIED HIM about being more open? viktor, the biggest bottom he's ever met? sidon is definitely more of a caretaker and had kind of unconsciously viewed viktor, a guy in his 30s, as someone to look after... and he still kind of did that because viktor has died/nearly died SO MANY TIMES and he will be VERY UPSET if he dies again, but it worked out that in the end viktor had grown so much that they were just sniping each other equally.
anyway he respected viktor a lot, in general he was the stemlord he connected to most because he was the most human about it, and more or less dumped all his science-based inquiries on him. really considers viktor a lifelong sort of friend and is so happy he's been cured and has people who love him. he can come visit hyrule and cause problems for link when he tries to reprogram a guardian. it'll be fun!!
rosamund
okay soooo obviously they have a lot of similarities between being royalty and also pet extroverts, they're both very sincere and have that sort of good-hearted kindness + pep that made them fast friends? and also both being fish out of water here from like, more ambiguously fantasy settings (both hilariously kind of post apocalyptic)? they got along from the get go and i think you could easily assume they are The Same? Two of Them?
but i do think ~BENEATH THE HIMBO/BIMBO VENEER~ (which is not a veneer it is real), they approach things differently. for one he has been alive much longer, and honestly the struggles of princess and prince are very different bc well uh HMMmm sexism, and she's been through a lot more fucked up shit than he has. so like!! obviously her brightness has sharper edges whereas he tended to be more even-keeled and that worked out for them; for him it was a lot of respecting her compassion and how it like, drove her to things like anger and defiance and a really deep sense of empathy, which he thinks are all actually quite difficult to handle and live with!!
he had a lot of concern that AS someone who is more empathetic and sensitive she might end up burning herself out if she didn't have an outlet, so he wanted to listen to her and be there when things like grief hit them all over the noggin. so a lot of their earlier conversations are kind of them just supporting each other through The Horrors and more or less offering exactly what they give to other people, just to each other. which was very sweet and they were good, very thoughtful friends, and he cared about her a ton. i think one thing is like, both knowing that optimism is very much a choice you have to make moreso than just being ignorant of horrors, so they were both very aware of how bleak the situation is but made the most of it together.
them getting tattoos was also when he started to think about things like... agency! the ability to decide things for yourself and how crucial that is! he truthfully did not come from a background where this was something he needed to think about, RICH POWERFUL MAN PRIVILEGE, but it was actually a hugely important thing to learn this game and she definitely was the one who first made him realize that.
that's also when he gave her a scale right before he died because it fell off when he tried to get a tattoo, did you know that for zora women that's a romantic gesture? anyway
THEN HE DIED!!! wowee. and she sent him the sweetest letter which made me so sad. in any case, he was very worried about her but they had a really heartwarming reunion in w4 vr that meant a lot to him, it was just surprisingly emotional and also like, on a related tangent, she is someone who would meet his unbridled love and enthusiasm with... unbridled love and enthusiasm!! they're both so unguarded with it and rightfully, not everyone is, but he did unconsciously appreciate having someone who would just reciprocate that energy with no questions asked. it's strange because they'd always been sincere, but it kind of tipped into a different level of openness and vulnerability here. overall though i actually think their relationship was more..... equalized?? after he died, which is unfortunate but very funny.
i've said this a few times, but he is kind of used to being Strong and Happy for the people around him, which is not something he minds at all or has to fake at all!!! but it was nice to be able to talk to someone who was sort of in the same position of pushing forward optimism and good cheer at all costs, and to tone it down and just have regular conversations about the things that they're not so confident about. which meant they would look deep into each others eyes and talk about their problems and all their confusion over things like, i am dealing with romance for the first time and making a huge mess of it, and maybe kiss each other on the cheek all the time and hold hands and be like wow i'm so glad we're normal friends doing normal friend things. they were so fucking cuddly all the time, everywhere.
anyway, feelings are hard, and after things with viktor, he was much more like, sensible and thoughtful. which meant it was harder to pick up on things like how he felt about rosamund; he got love potioned and it was confusing again because he was like, well..... this is not that different from how we are and how i feel already. it just kind of wiped away his hang-ups and threw caution to the wind for five minutes. i don't think he would've processed things quickly enough had she not confessed at endgame; he's not SHY, but he is made more timid by things like the threat of dying the next day, because at his core he does not actually want to put himself in the position of violently losing a person he loves again, whereas the imminent threat of death had emboldened her to say something. it's funny because they're both so protective but deeply different about it, he gets fussy and introspective, she gets fired up and emotional, and in general it's probably a good juxtaposition.
also nothing solid was going to come of it because he cares about todomatsu and felt way too bad to do anything anyway, but i think the way it worked out was nice actually? like they're both very loving and both had these rocky journeys of self discovery and it wasn't all good, and they're still not experts or dealing with it 'correctly,' but it means they're being gentle with themselves and each other. also like, he's genuinely more concerned about how this place has worn down her self confidence in her new life than romance. it really breaks his heart that she chose freedom and then got punished so hard for it immediately, but he is also of the mind that she can make the rest of her life mean more than two very hard months. sometimes..... suffering is just part of life.
but they are going to have so much fun to make up for how shit this place is, amen
I LOVE YOU ROSAMUND please love yourself and thank you kabby for the absolute journey of this cr
throne
i think, first off, they have very different countenances... laughs. but like even if throné is reserved, she never came across as cold to him? even from their first meeting, maybe because he brought up someone she cared about, but she had such an obvious warmth to her that he definitely saw and connected to right away. his best friend barely has any speaking lines so being a more quiet person is not.. a deterrent to him.....
but also emoshare definitely helped because while he is A FEELINGS GUY, he has his own way of coping with things and meeting her and seeing how she processed emotions (completely differently) and getting a chance to experience her Depression and Anxiety gave him a lot of empathy. which is funny, like for a minute he contracts mental illness and is like oh no this sucks actually!! but it helped him realize that for her, whatever she's lived through, it's made it this lifelong struggle to be happy, while also truly believing that she deserved much more.
so like, on one hand he is pretty okay with social grace and doesn't want to push too hard, but on the other he wants to support her! really bad!!! he tried to be pretty optimistic and open with her, and she was always respectful of that? it would be pretty easy to write off hoping for the best as something naive or silly especially when things are constantly going awry, but even when she disagreed with him it was just always kind of 'i'm genuinely happy you can think that way' rather than 'die you stupid fish,' and he wanted her to get to the point where she could risk hoping for the best as well.
but also we kept killing people she really cared about, oops.
HE'S FROM A HAPPY HOME SO HE'S LIKE :tails: at her upbringing and has been since she first told him. but yeah he is so happy for her even if she has an entire new journey ahead still, and will be texting all the time and obnoxiously asking her to visit him. sorry. also i didn't know where to put this but i thought it was so funny whenever she wanted to kill him for being an annoying dog to her murderous cat vibes
kisses throne i love you so SO MUCH
eunhyuk
do you think about how wildly different this cr is from how it started. how did this happen. anyway they started out politely and had bathroom curfew, but i think the first real instance of them having to like, seriously talk is after the HEART FIASCO..
TO CHOOSE LIFE INSTEAD? in general it was just a lot of being silly and trying to keep their spirits afloat with stupid parties and whatnot. but he was very worried after eunhyuk and memshare really made it funnier, realizing that he had a baby sister.
it contextualized a lot of things, because mipha also took on so much responsibility to keep everyone safe that it ultimately killed her. and obviously sidon is going to relate to eunyoo a little more, even if he isn't as cool as she is? to be honest sidon was projecting a little, thinking about what he would tell mipha if he had the opportunity, but mostly he wanted eunhyuk to be able to relate to how eunyoo might be feeling and to encourage him to communicate with her when he got back home. basically he is sure also that eunyoo loves his STUPID ASS and his heart really breaks for all they've been through.
cyoas gave them a chance at self reflection and also to freak out over him dying. everyone getting old yellered. before that, eunhyuk was someone who fussed over him a bit, which caught him off guard a little..... it's very sweet and he didn't know how to react at first, but it did mean a lot; while i think they all sustained more trauma than can be dealt with in 8 weeks, these cyoas were brutal, it definitely helped to talk through it and get eunhyuk's perspective instead of just beating himself up for another two weeks. and when they did revive, he was SO HAPPY THAT EUNHYUK TALKED TO DAHUT.... just making the choice to live meant so much to sidon and while he hated this experience with a passion he is also just glad that something about the journey could be worthwhile and change eunhyuk's life for the better.
he is going to be annoying about checking in and seeing how he and eunyoo are doing? he wants to meet her so bad even though that would mean visiting hyrule or eudora? the way he can't visit half these worlds because he's fucking monster-shaped. anyway he loves eunhyuk a lot and hopes he's happy FOREVER
shoma
i think first off is the age thing. hilariously because you are all tiny and sidon has no understanding of how humans work anyway, he didn't really think of shoma as like a tiny baby or anything to begin with -- he DID think he was young, but by zora standards, someone who looks shoma's age could easily be like 50+ years old. there are some baby zora who are like, fully articulate teens but look like babies because they don't haven't hit their growth spurt. awkward adolescence, etc.
with that context... he was instantly like oh this guy knows more about what's going on than i do, lol. like shoma was clearly more in his element and knew more about technology, etc. and for sidon, he tends to see what people are good at and tries to praise and encourage it as much as possible, so he wanted to connect to shoma and encourage his interests!! and like shoma AND ROBOJI helped him out very early, which was very sweet and cemented him as The Best Duo Ever in sidon's mind.
so he relied on him quite a lot tbh! and maybe for some people that's just added pressure, but mostly he wanted shoma to like.. feel useful? especially after viktor died and w1 cyoa, he was just very worried about shoma's safety because he is SUCH A MISERABLE LITTLE MAN and he was like oh this one could probably stand to feel..... needed by others. because the will to live and not give up is something so important? accidentally traumatizes shoma with a story about his own dad
but yeah like shoma was an early favorite of his just because he was so cute without meaning to be, passionate about what he likes, and intelligent in a way that sidon is not. he genuinely admires shoma a lot!! they had like, meaningful conversations and such but also ran around as kids on an ice floe, so he really thought of him as a friend. but also a friend he needs to support because he has fucking level 100 depression.
when shoma told him about how genuinely miserable and afraid of life he was, especially because everyone with solutions kept dying, it was really heartbreaking. the aging thing again he wasn't weirded out by, but he does understand that aging at a different speed than people around you is a problem, since that's him with all the humans here. but sidon isn't also stuck looking like a child, so that's extra awful? obviously he died IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS CONVERSATION.. SORRY.... but mostly he wanted to encourage shoma to keep trying because he has also been in a situation where he was unfathomably depressed and it does eventually get more fathomable, if you don't reject love and support.. which he thought the eudora crew was capable of giving him. the idea that shoma would eventually be afraid to be happy just scared him a lot.
and again HE DIED but they had a very cute reunion w4, and genuinely shoma seemed be handling his grief better and a lot of w4 threads with his living cr was just sidon trying to vibe check if they were Doing Okay, and he was very grateful to see shoma working hard -- because that meant he hadn't given up yet, cries. MY SON!!!! and then when they reunited for real w6, shoma seemed genuinely excited for what he'd managed to accomplish and that just made sidon feel so much pride and he loves this little bean so much.
the sister lore at the end definitely like.. contextualized a lot, too. mostly because he'd kind of seen shoma in a place he'd been 100 years ago after his sister died, and finally recognized what it was, except shoma had the added struggle of everything else going on his life. so he feels a lot of sympathy for him and understands why he'd want to help his sister, and truly hopes for the best for them both. also he's also like.. glad that this place with its wish and MONEY would maybe help him deal with the problems he's facing. he's obviously going to invite shoma and his sister over to hyrule sometime?? and check in and clap for all the obvious awards he's going to win and cry when he graduates from college. THE POINT IS HE'S SOOOO PROUD OF SHOMA he loves him a lot and wants all the best for him forever the end
arthur
he met arthur and arthur was immediately this guy. the way i looked at their early pcs and arthur was just like, we're not friends. he's so silly. anyway, they are basically opposites but he simply assumed that arthur was a tsundere immediately? sidon always assumes the best of folks and he was right to think this because arthur just turned out to be a cute nerd, and he felt justified in harassing him more when he actually started to give him the time of day and tell him stories and stuff.
in general he felt like arthur was a grumpy cat but also possibly just incredibly awkward and unable or unwilling to show he cared, while still actually caring. he would do things like ask if he was okay and help people during mini events when they were being attacked by monsters, and other such things that were OBVIOUS SIGNS of being a DECENT PERSON, idiot.
but also to be honest, he took the approach of trying to be obnoxiously in his space to try to get him to risk opening up a little. because it did feel like he tried to be aloof and take care of his own business, but 1) this place is so hellish how could he handle it by himself, 2) he seemed like someone who actually could use a friend, because of and despite actively pushing everyone away. so like, even if it wasn't sidon specifically, he was hoping he'd open up more and maybe accept that other people would worry after him and That's Okay. you can't control how other people feel, and sometimes their feelings are that they like you.
but then he died :')!! the letter arthur sent him honestly did give him a morale boost, like oh, arthur is going to be okay. and w4's reunion cemented that, he was so glad that arthur was making friends.. finding love..... even if he only admitted these things because he got truth cursed so hard, help me. but honestly hearing arthur's TRUE FEELINGS made him very happy, and basically cemented everything he'd already thought of him. and when he got back, arthur was ready to patch up his stupid tail and also like.. feeling guilty over something that sidon would literally never have thought to blame him for, and between that and his memory, it was very clear that this is just a man who takes on so much responsibility and then blames himself for everything that doesn't go right and carries that guilt everywhere.
and it's really sad but also something he knows will take more than eight weeks to recover through, and that he may never be cuddly and friendly or such. but he likes arthur for who he is, thinks he's transparently kind despite efforts otherwise, and has the support network to be happy if he allows himself to be!! he will call arthur up to make sure he's practicing some self care and then call throne if he ignores him. i love your arthur you are so funny and deserve the world
owner
but no for some background, the monsters in zelda are like uncommunicative aggro assholes, some are smart but it's more like an animal intelligence. but there's also a bunch of different species obviously, looks at the zora. so for him meeting someone who was not human, and unabashedly said so, was kind of a relief!! he understands why, but a couple people thought sidon was a monster/were alarmed/wanted to attack him out the gate, so even if that didn't ~hurt his feelings~, it was still nice to skip over that part completely and jump to a mutual understanding.
so he felt a very immediate connection with owner, and was open about that; 'demon' doesn't have a good connotation where he's from either but it was very much like, well, this is a totally different world and it's best to keep an open mind!!! like this is a person who is a totally different species from him, so he was prepared for some huge disparities in perspective, culture, etc. sidon is exhausted by racist boomer fish in canon.
however, owner never did anything to be Very Different in his eyes? they spent a lot of time just hanging out and holding hands, and sidon is SUCH an extrovert and owner is a sociable creature so they really bounced off each other well? owner is also someone who is polite but would put him in his place if he did anything stupid, which is good. and like with the missing arm, it's not like owner hid it from him as long as he asked? so overall they vibed a lot and he really would've been fine just chatting about nothing forever, manifesting good things and holding hands and buying matching friendship sunglasses.
but he was also of the mind that like, owner wasn't telling him everything. not maliciously, just that he was not really a Feelings Blabby person, which was okay!! but as someone who might live to be 400+ he has seen and experienced the woes of a longer lifespan and kind of worried about owner in terms of what he might not be sharing.
HIS PAL!!!! oh yeah i'll go on the lucktordon tangent here, he was not annoyed by love arrows, it did kinda sting in the end but that wasn't really owner's fault so much as sidon's actions afterward that caused problems. and they had a nice talk about it.
sidon: love has so many moving parts and is hard to understand
owner, kindly: yeah it is incomprehensible and inescapable forever and then you die
sidon: oh okay!
plus he is pretty hard to upset, so he was mostly like... i think you actually should apologize to viktor instead. the actual worst part was that he fell in love with viktor the week he died, because trauma, but that was also not owner's fault. but then there was CYOA, bleak. he violently murdered owner and felt awful about it, and then owner died for real. in the cyoa though he only got to see owner's dream for a second in like, fucked up bits and pieces in aeor, but it really stayed with him? so when he died irl, people were comforting sidon but his response was actually was more like.. i wonder if owner will be disappointed when he shows up here.
I should've held your hand through your pain.)
cw: suicide-ish nothing graphic just talk of death
anyway that's why he wanted to talk to owner when he showed up and asked him about his dream!! to make sure he wasn't misunderstanding it. and like, knowing that owner was exhausted of his existence did make him very sad, and he did selfishly want to keep his bond with owner even if maybe the nicer thing to do would be to offer to find a way to permakill him. sidon is someone who is unconsciously very afraid of losing people so he wouldn't be able to think that way, but he also wants owner to be happy, so he's just going to try and live a long time and be his friend for 300 years and hope that's vaguely entertaining for him to make up for inevitable goodbyes. he does still hope he outlives owner somehow and that he finds peace.
w7 memshare was funny because he was like, wow owner you really do have to deal with love a lot, but also it was like the one time he saw that owner is kind of a LIL JERK to some people. which was interesting, but he didn't read into it too bad. like in general he thinks owner is genuinely trying to help the people in his inn so he wouldn't say things to actively sabotage that, even if he's being a provocateur... again he has no clue about owner's freak side. and with endgame, it was like, well of course owner has regrets he's 9230480923 years old, and he will probably ask about them whenever i feel like i can do my tags again. i don't know how to describe their cr besides that they are besties and he just treats owner like any other guy even if he can grow 40000 limbs.
but yeah sorry he is going to be so annoying and text him like LOOK AT THIS CRAB!!! (SHITTY PICTURE OF A CRAB) WHAT A GREAT CRAB and try to visit his inn!! i have no idea how sidon would deal with knowing he's killed a bajillion people. probably tell him that if he did that in front of him he'd have to try and kill him, and that sucks. let's go to the beach instead? he thinks as long as owner has enrichment it's probably fine, he has no reason to believe he'd do a mass murder at this point.
chuus owner on the forehead they were so inexplicably cute and i'll never be over it
diluc
okay so i think they obviously have the funny gag of loud guy quiet guy going for them, though in his mind diluc is more ridiculous than he appears on the tin... he thinks diluc is honestly so funny despite the stoicism.
their early conversations were very pleasant and they started on their silly compendium together even though there were 9284382 more animals and plants than they could possibly get pictures of? it was just a silly project and he was grateful that diluc wasn't someone who was like, too cool for that. that really was the week i died, damn?? but yeah his early impressions of diluc were that he was very dependable and just an upright guy, a Chill Dude who was part of the legendary bathroom curfew. obviously he had feelings, w1 made sure everyone knew that, but he generally felt like diluc was someone who could stand on his own without much help.
but i do think death kind of changed their dynamic in a fun way!! because their reunion was obviously INCREDIBLY FUNNY..... i'm sorry he thinks diluc is handsome even without hair 🥺 and then he continued to make baldluc jokes by accident all game......... and diluc continued to forgive him instantly 🥺 all of you let him get away with anything all of the time
okay back to the real meat of things, again i think death was a good shift -- he got the sense that diluc was being more open in general once trial was over? sidon can be pushy when he's up against someone VERY reserved, but he's not really the type to force someone out of their shell so much as invite and encourage them to do so, so he was happy that diluc was more willing to share his burdens and be like, not so weighed down by whatever baggage made him so independent. which isn't necessarily a bad thing!! it's good to be self-sufficient so long as it's not self-isolating. but it's also like, at some point it's stubborn and maybe a little selfish, so he was grateful to hear that diluc felt a little freer. dying and not having to be afraid of death is a little liberating in its own way.
but yeah beyond that, they just got along!! they do share a lot of core values i think, which is why they got annoyed and angry at the same things, even if diluc is more intense about it lmao.
HE LIKED DILUC A LOT!!!!!! that's his lil egg guy. they are a comedy routine.
invites him to hyrule (teyvat 2) so they can beat the shit out of each other for fun yay!!!
margaret
i think he and margaret hit a couple of the same notes of just being socially competent and decent with people and not deep in the weeds of a tragic backstory and stuff. in general, she felt very reliable and steady out of the gate; she understood the game premise, business, and didn't seem shocked at a giant fish dude, so he admired her a lot for how collected she was overall? like, i can immediately trust her judgment calls on what is happening and i feel confident making this decision after five minutes of knowing each other.
but margaret is actually a safe choice for that? to him, she strikes a good balance of like, actually caring about people (the way w0 doxxed people having Real Human Feelings immediately) and having compassion while also being a competent person with practical skills; he has a harder time connecting to people who don't have that human ('human') side to them, but even without knowing her background and stuff he's liked her from the start. also obviously he is not a businessman so he is like WOW margaret you are so good at spreadsheets!
THE BIG THING THOUGH WAS CYOA, what a terrible time. simultaneously being besties and then instantly being paranoid and suspicious of each others' guts was so unpleasant. and he wasn't even there when margaret died!! maybe that actually made it easier to talk about with each other, since they weren't directly involved in their respective pvp portions. but yeah afterwards it was really nice to talk to her while they were both sane and chat about their like, uncorrupted dreams; he's royalty and ambitious in the scope of what he wants, and obviously he does not truly know the horrors of capitalism, but the crux of their dreams comes a similar sort of hope and he genuinely respects/loves what she's trying to accomplish and the heart behind it.
he's not a spiteful person, but being friends with margaret after cyoa did feel like a huge fuck you to what happened to them. in a good way! they got to burn books and gossip and it just felt like a very natural friendship. even getting her memory about what a disaster her love life is and how her taste is bad just felt like a very.. idk how to describe it. less about swapping trauma and more just venting about things and being like yes girl you deserve better girl (get couples therapy). you know your gay friend you flop onto on a couch together with and talk about your days together.
in general, he respects margaret a lot and he is going to give her his entire stipend so he doesn't destroy hyrule's economy. she's a top pick for if he were to go on an adventure? he loves u so much margaret i cry
charles
anyway, i feel like he and charles have a number of similarities ESPECIALLY SINCE CHARLES IS ALSO ROYALTY, OKAY CHARLES. like they're both very affable and function without very much shame or overt angst, sometimes you are the emotionally stable one of your friend group (of 40 people). it felt very...... equal? he very quickly realized he didn't need to worry that charles would forget to eat or sleep or fall into a giant quagmire of depression, all three of which were legitimate concerns he had multiple times for multiple people this game.
however, charles is just generally more of a badass than he is, i think? like they're both fighty dudes and pretty bold, and he thinks charles has a good heart, but in general charles seems like he's better at making hard decisions, as sidon is secretly PRETTY BAD AT THIS at his canonpoint, so i think they still read pretty differently... also i guess sidon is pretty open whereas charles had an entire secret identity. that said, i don't think he ever pressed charles for anything ever and knows absolutely nothing about his backstory and whatnot. hilarious. the way i haven't even read your lore plurk because i'd like to play these games someday
ALSO THE FUCKING HATS WHY DIDNT YOU GUYS SEND THEM!!!! I WANTED MY HATS!!!! in general one of the big things was that the whole gy really respected charles because he was smart enough to send them things and also sent letters that all of them could read that were obviously putting in a lot of effort to help everyone? and he thought it was sweet when the living sent random questions about squirrels or whatever, even though someone did an identity theft on him for a second there, HEI
but yeah he thought charles was a very good sport and that's why he just constantly doxxed whatever he was doing to him, and generally found him very fun and on a similar wavelength to him -- just two guys who pretend to be some really weird family with eunhyuk and kill a guy on lotophagos within a day of landing there, and also get shot at by arrows. charles strikes him as different from say, ichiban, in that he is clearly a fun moodmaker type but is also kind of a little scamp about it. their mutual hobby of making arthur regret his existence. he's just very fun to bounce off of.
anyway he respects that charles is too busy to deal with any of them and has an entire life and marriage and his own thing to do besides dwell on 2 months of murder game, good for him. they should hang out sometime though, i think they'd be good penpals and we would continue our letter cr trend
shouxue
obviously she was NOT in the camp of people who instantly accepted him and his dumbass giant fish existence right away, which was funny. she is a little prickly and a teenage and ordinarily he would just take this as a friendship challenge and be annoying until she caved, though i have no idea if that would've worked tbh.
but he basically memorized everyone's profiles (even if obviously oocly i have memloss and cannot do this), and when people started dying, she was practically the first person he wanted to talk to. she actually got his sister lore very early compared to most people, it's something he's not in a huge rush to talk about because even if he's moved on to some degree, he is more affected by it than he likes to put forward + he's the one at home who has to keep his dad and others from talking about mipha every 3 seconds. but it was relevant!! and just seeing how much she genuinely respected the dead and how seriously she took her job moved him. sometimes your sister is trapped in a robot for 100 years and then you end up on a ship that starts to do basically the same thing.
so that was a very genuine bonding experience, and they had some mutual friends like owner, and then she killed him. this was such a funny murder to plan AND I GOT TO DIE thank you sweet ara. him trying not to get too far ahead of her because he was worried what she might do and just running around like a pair of idiots. mostly, he felt bad for... dying. like obviously she was crazy and they didn't know for sure what might cure that, but he felt like if she did become lucid again she would feel crazy bad about killing anyone, considering what her deal is. and honestly, during trial he was incredibly torn between wanting her caught because that's probably what she'd want, and being upset that two young women were going to get mcmurdered for something they didn't want to do. seeing his own words used against her during execution as like, a final blow was SOOO HEARTBREAKING I HATE YOU
after that though the most he really felt he could do was greet her kindly and forgive her when she got to the helly belly. like he simultaneously felt it was his responsibility to help her past The Murder while truly not having an answer on how to do so, tears in eyes emoji. and learning about her mom and knowing how so much of her life was trying to redeem herself for something that WASN'T HER FAULT..... AND THEN DIED AGAIN ON CYOA!!!!!!! at the very least i think his own cyoa helped.. even things out. but she was his water bottle forever. even if she was hilariously tsun all of the time and revoked his thumbs up and gave him grief during party games.
but yeah he really did feel she was a salvation for a lot of people here.. himself included!! because by the end it became clear they couldn't SAVE everyone who'd been hurt by eldritch abomination-chan, which was incredibly depressing, she still worked herself basically to the bone trying everything that she could and humoring him when he wanted to send off everyone they'd collected. and i think had he not gotten that closure, endgame would've been much harder? so he respects her very deeply and i think ultimately she helped him more than he'd helped her tbh.
idk what your endgame plans are actually but he'd definitely try to keep in touch and invite her to eudora reunions or whatever insane groupchat they all have. smooches her on the noggin, he care her very much
dahut
dahut is so interesting because he is a lil stemlord, but he still has real charm? do you know how rare that is irl? anyway while obviously sidon is not a studied academic type, he really respects dahut's big silly brain and how the virches basically got started on investigating their situation and the ship immediately? it's the kind of admiration you get for someone who is so much better at something than you are. zelda tech is very advanced but no one understands it because it's 159039402 years old, so it was very O: to meet people who are essentially biomedical engineers.
but you also gave half of us bizarre heart lore w0 and then died because you're a hateful little creature! i think about how much disaster your heart subplot caused for an item that fucking disappeared with you. he felt very bad for his heart vanishing even if he was mostly motivated by honor things with scien. anyway, he was very concerned about dahut's 'medical condition' to begin with, so him dying was rough for everyone!! thanks for that
i don't feel like we were separated for very long though, and while sidon liked the graveyard, all of you by w2 were weird shady stems and at LEAST among them, dahut is an extrovert. and in general dahut was someone whose company he enjoyed? whether it was just looking for cookies in this hellish rathole or harassing him during our 100 parties, it was a good time!! dahut was also like, thoughtful and somehow supporting 1083402 people at once, it's hard not to appreciate his infinite youthful energy and how he turns it into like, a caretaker role.
but memshare was fun because they do have something of a shared background in being motivated by DEAD RELATIVES and what that sort of loss entails. he has no idea how actually bringing someone back to life would work but he's happy that dahut will get to see his mom again probably i'm sure that goes well. he would make the exact same choice if he could, so he gets it. though memshare 2 was also fascinating in that sidon's approach to his relationships is much more straightforward and he is not the kind of person who could function like dahut does? he definitely thinks he and scien are kind of freaks (affectionate). it was just very illuminating in that, oh we have our similarities but we will never function on the same wavelength probably. that's okay. it was helpful because dahut's faith in scien is something that spoke to scien's character (which was hard for him to understand on his own), but also like... it's easier to believe in someone who likewise has such a meaningful bond with someone else!!
but overall he really respected dahut's approach to emotions, in a way that resonated with him on a personal level better than scien's general mindset was. and it's hard not to compare them, even if he doesn't dislike scien. he's a very emotional person and someone who prefers to connect on an empathetic level with people so the way that dahut didn't necessarily apologize for what people do or forgive everyone for causing problems due to emotional outbursts, while also respecting Feelings, both negative and positive, was something he resonated with. partly because he has also been alive a while so DESPITE BEING YOUNG, like ugly/selfish outbursts feel a little juvenile to him? quietly judges some trial stuff together.
but yeah he thinks dahut is so amazing and cool and maybe the third cutest here after a corgi and owner, but it's a close race...... he's going to text dahut for advice and sanity checks from time to time, while also seeing if he get a confession croissant from any poor soul who crushes on him.
lucien
sidon is a friendly dogfishman who is the baby of his family and generally emotionally stable if nothing else, lucien is a wet cat saddled with elder sibling responsibilities and arcane-induced brain damage, so sufficed to say...... they are different
early on he was mostly just concerned about lucien? like this was a man who did not seem to be getting much rest or peace of mind in what was already a very stressful situation? cyoa definitely didn't help that, but he also didn't have a bad impression of lucien, he just thought he could talk to ghosts somehow and maybe needed some guided meditation. like he could be abrasive but he was also surprisingly open about his fucked up family situation, which was illuminating even if he worried about lucien's ability to very confidently make disastrous personal decisions. he felt for him and his sister a lot, had to reflect a little about his own relationship with mipha, and mostly hoped lucien could let his guard down a little and open himself up to kindness.
and then he died! their seance session kind of convinced him that lucien was generally doing his best, just in the most concerning way possible. this was also where lucien had him pass a message about himself to viktor???
I GUESS. sidon didn't really talk about it, because it was likely an illusion and lucien probably wasn't there? but it was a little like -- not even a personal thing, it's just killing a guy so you can rob him is not exactly a good look on top of things like stealing a 15yo's heart. this is why when he had to shittalk one person for fun it was lucien.
but mostly he wanted to talk through it; getting to chat when he revived and seeing that lucien seemed surprised/upset about murder was a nice moment, and he got a much stronger sense of how lucien was trying to become a better version of himself. and in general, since they were spying through the guinea pig stuff, he could see him making an effort to bring them all back even as he was getting bit by naked pigs, etc. and there were other moments of real decency, like giving him the clover or even molly's sketches.... sidon genuinely wouldn't mind having him drop into hyrule and getting to know each other better.
all in all, he thinks lucien is a tsundere piece of shit! but also that he is a tremendously damaged person with some dick moments. honestly he was kind of a test of sidon's compassion vs his very strong sense of right and wrong, but it was a good lesson in understanding how much someone's circumstances can affect who they end up to be, considering sidon has never had to worry about terrible parents and poverty, etc. you have to give people a chance to be good and believe in them, so he wants to be nice. also he mostly believes that viktor will be a good moral compass for him. don't pick up any more weird books though.
viktor
anyway viktor was nice to him right away and offered to help him IN THE MOST CURSED WAY POSSIBLE BECAUSE YOU ARE A NIGHTMARE, ANNA, but unfortunately sidon really liked him from the jump. obviously he didn't know much about Space and deeply values altruism, so someone who looked past the shark thing and helped him with tech really hit a chord with him early... it also doesn't help that viktor is actually a little gremlin man who scampered about zora's domain immediately, which is unfortunately endearing to him. lil guys who skitter about are very friend-shaped.
but so much happened immediately with dahut + scien dying, scien cashed in a favor to have him and eunhyuk try and stop viktor from using his heart tech. and i think actually this very early on highlighted their differences, sidon is able-bodied, long-lived, and grew up with love, power, wealth, and opportunity, and viktor had..
